off the MontanaFair evening entertainment with performances on August 15, 16,

MontanaFair
kicks off Friday, August 9 with THE TRIPLE THREAT TOUR
FEATURING BLACKHAWK, Restless Heart, and Shenandoah. For more than
20 years, BLACKHAWK has shared a unique sense of harmony with their voices,
their songs and their fans. It’s a harmony that has sold over 7 million albums,
scored some of the most distinctive country radio hits of the ‘90s, and still
draws tens of thousands of fans to their electrifying live performances. Today
BLACKHAWK continues to honor its past as it forges its future, and does it all
with a commitment that takes their music – and the harmony – to a whole new
level.
Joining BLACKHAWK is Restless Heart who has enjoyed one of the
most successful careers in country music history, placing over 25 singles on
the charts – with six consecutive #1 hits, four of their albums have been
certified Gold by the RIAA, and they have won a wide range of awards.
Kicking off the night is Shenandoah. The boys from Muscle Shoals
have left a potent legacy at country radio with over a dozen #1 records. The
group recently signed a recording deal with BMG and released their first new
album in two decades to celebrate their 30th Anniversary.
Saturday, August 10 takes it to the next level with An
Evening with 98°
In five short
years — from 1997 to 2002 — 98° sold a staggering 10 million
records, scored a chart-topping single, “Thank God I Found You,” with Mariah
Carey and Joe, and collaborated with their collective idol, Stevie Wonder, on
“True to Your Heart,” for the 1998 animated Disney film, Mulan.
Their four-million-selling album, 98° and Rising (1998,
Motown), spawned the top-5 favorites “Because of You,” “I Do,” and “The Hardest
Thing,” while 2000’s Revelation (Universal Records), which
sold two million copies, peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and yielded a
trio of hits, “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche),” “My Everything” and “The
Way You Want Me To.”
By September 10,
2001, the frequent Total Request Live champions had reached
the pinnacle of their career. That was the night the male-harmony group, which
includes Jeff Timmons, Justin Jeffre and brothers Nick and Drew Lachey,
performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York
City. But not 12 hours later, the 9-11 attacks changed the world forever.
At that point, the all-Ohio-raised quartet decided to take a break. Save for a
one-off performance on a TV special in 2004, it would be more than a decade
before the four friends in 98° would sing together again. Then, in 2013,
they hit the road with New Kids On the Block and Boyz II Men, the latter being
their inspiration and a group that figures prominently in their origin story.
Encouraged by the rapturous fan reaction, the group headlined their own,
38-city trek in the summer of 2016.
Last year, the
quartet released their first full-length Christmas album in 18 years, Let It Snow, via UMe to glowing reviews
from both fans and critics alike. The album featured the group’s
signature R&B-tinged, four-part harmonies and was a natural follow up to
their 1999 multi-platinum selling This Christmas. The band embarked
on a highly successful 31-city tour across the U.S. in support of their
Christmas album in addition to their performances on the Macy’s Thanksgiving
Day Parade, Disney’s Magic Holiday Celebration, Good
Morning America, Today Show, Kelly & Ryan and more.
Sunday evening, August 11 Award winning Old Dominion takes the stage.
2018 ACM and CMA
Vocal Group of the Year, Old Dominion, has emerged as one of the hottest
breaking bands in country music, fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound.
Proving that they are not your average country band, Old Dominion blends
old-fashioned country charm, lyrical wit and rock n' roll grit into
radio-friendly, hook-heavy pop nuggets. Old Dominion’s sophomore
album, Happy Endings, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country
Albums chart and No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200. Their latest single,
“Make It Sweet,” follows the success of previous singles “No Such Thing As A
Broken Heart,” “Written in the Sand” and “Hotel Key,” all of which hit No. 1
on Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts. To top
it off, each and every single OD has released has been certified Platinum by
the RIAA. In 2016, the band was notably named ACM New Group of the
Year, ACCA Breakthrough Group of the Year, AIMP Songwriter Artist of the
Year and Music Row Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Old Dominion
consists of lead singer Matthew Ramsey, lead guitarist Brad
Tursi, multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rosen, bassist Geoff
Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers.
On Tuesday, August 13, the Billings
Motorcycle Club is bringing Montana Outdoor Supercross back to
the MetraPark Grandstands. If you like high-flying motorcycle action, then this
is an event you won’t want to miss. Supercross continues to be one of the most
physically-demanding sports there is, and these professional athletes will punch
out lap after lap of serious 30-foot air jumps, whoop sections, double and
triple jumps, 100 feet long jumps, rhythm sections, roller sections and a
challenging array of other technical Supercross-style track
conditions. Supercross athletes come from across the country to compete
for the top podium spot and these riders take their championships to the edge.
Enjoy delicious food, ice cold beverages and take a look at the hottest new
motorcycles and accessories on display by Motorsports vendors from around the
region. Keep your eyes and ears out for crowd giveaways, special offers,
raffles, and play-by-play commentary. See you in the stands!
